Project story
forFAIRPLAY
When a ban on one server stopped being the end of it in just one place.
By 2011, I had already spent several years helping different gaming portals. I noticed the differences between them, and it bothered me that a player could cheat, receive a ban, and then simply continue on a competing portal.
At that time, individual portals saw one another mainly as competitors, and every new player was welcome. I contacted the leading Czech and Slovak Counter-Strike portals and agreed with them on a shared way to handle offences and apply global bans across portals and game servers.
We gradually aligned parts of the rules and the severity of penalties. I created an extensive system that helped partners handle protests while showing other players transparent information about individual players.
Partner sites were connected through an API. That is how the largest Czech and Slovak anti-cheat portal came to life, providing a shared solution for a community that had previously been fragmented.
The project also included a Counter-Strike plugin that prevented banned players from playing on a game server, as well as another innovative plugin that automated and made competitive play on the server easier.
What forFAIRPLAY connected
Rules, portals, game servers, and confidence that breaking the rules would have the same consequences across the whole community.
