Experience

Nette experience

Nette was an important part of my professional development: from early projects with Dibi and Tracy, through client applications, to daily development work at Sportisimo.

From useful tools to a framework in a large application.

Before working more extensively with Nette, I used Dibi and Tracy in my own projects. I then gradually encountered client applications built on Nette and learned its approach through practice.

The key experience came at Sportisimo, where Nette formed the foundation of my daily work. For new PHP projects today, I prefer Symfony, mainly because of its larger international community and broader ecosystem possibilities.

How it evolved

From individual tools to the foundation of an e-commerce application.

  1. Personal projects

    Dibi and Tracy

I used Dibi and Tracy in my own projects early on. This introduced me to practical Nette ecosystem tools before Nette itself became part of my daily work.
  2. Client applications

    Encountering Nette in practice

While working on client applications, I encountered solutions built on Nette. I gained experience maintaining and further developing applications that used its conventions.
  3. Sportisimo

Nette as the foundation of daily work

At Sportisimo, Nette formed the foundation of the application I worked on. This is where I gained my most extensive experience with it in a larger e-commerce environment.

  4. Today

    Symfony for new projects

I know Nette and can work with it, but for new PHP projects I now prefer Symfony. Its larger international community, wider ecosystem, and options for modern backends and integrations suit me better.

How my preference evolved

From the Nette ecosystem to today’s Symfony choice.

Nette gave me important practical experience with PHP application development and its tools. When choosing a framework today, I start with the project and team needs; for new projects, I lean toward Symfony.

This is not a rejection of Nette — it is a deliberate preference for new projects where I can benefit from Symfony’s broader international ecosystem.

Today

Symfony for new backends

  1. Symfony framework
  2. International community
  3. A broad library ecosystem
